Drip Culture Comes to the Valley
A hearty welcome to Drip Culture Infrared Sauna Studio, newly opened on Main Street in Waitsfield.
If, like me, you’re unfamiliar with the benefits of spending time heating up in an infrared sauna, the good doctors at The Cleveland Clinic tell us that exposure to infrared sauna can flush out toxins, provide pain relief and wound healing, boost circulation, and improve cardiovascular function, among other benefits.
While it almost sounded too good to be true, I decided to find out for myself.
Upon entering the spa, co-owner Nikki greeted me warmly (sorry 😀), showed me around the welcoming space, and explained what I was about to experience. Nikki asked about my heat tolerance and set the sauna temperature to 140 degrees, the mid-range of what people typically enjoy. She also offered me my choice of light therapy and explained the therapeutic benefits of the different colors. I chose green for grounding, stepped into the heated sauna, and proceeded to enjoy the warmth, the silence, and the lovely eucalyptus scent that wafted through the space. While the state-of-the-art Clearlight sauna includes a heat-safe locker for an iPhone or iPad to allow for listening to music or a podcast, part of the relaxation experience for me was to sit quietly without any distractions.
Before I knew it, my 30 minutes were up. I’d sweated, sure, but not uncomfortably so. I exited the sauna and enjoyed the cold towel and large glass of water set out for me.
I’d gone to Drip Culture simply out of curiosity and left a convert. Thank you to Warren-based entrepreneurs Nikki Neal and Shannon Hottinger for taking this leap and opening this sauna studio here in our Valley.
