(Returnable) Cans for a Cause

Behind the Waitsfield United Church of Christ (across from the VG) is a very large storage container that spins aluminum and glass into gold. It’s alchemy at its best.

The service to collect and return $0.05 and $0.10 cans and bottles has been running for several years, but the scale grew so large (yes, insert jokes here about how much beer us Valley folks consume), that a container was installed about two years ago to handle the volume.

You can place returnable cans and bottles, encased in a garbage bag, into the unit and it will be carted away, sorted and cashed.  The church uses the money for many good deeds throughout the Valley. The unit is open seven days a week, any hour of the day.

If this service is news to you, bring along your cans and bottles. And, if you’ve been recycling here all along, thank you!
