The Art of Summer

Although it’s arguably hard to match the glory of the Green Mountains in summer or the palette of our spectacular sunsets, artists all over the Valley are up to the challenge. Check out the following places to view their works during July.

  • The Bundy Modern is open for the summer season, featuring three artists in the gallery. When you visit, be sure to pet the cuddly bronze calf sculpture while considering the nuances in the evocative artworks on the walls. If the weather is nice, pick up the map and wander the grounds sprinkled with sculptures made of steel, wood and bronze. The exhibit is free to all, check the website for hours.

  • Hurry to the annual Green Mountain Watercolor show at Lareau Farm for a truly amazing display of artistic talent. This juried show selects stellar works from preeminent artists around the US. I particularly liked the portrait series of the chefs in an Italian restaurant; they are truly amazing. The show is free (donations welcome) and open on Thursdays and Fridays from 4-9pm and Saturdays and Sundays from 12-9 pm through July 20th.

  • And, while you are shopping and strolling, check out the outdoor art installation of banners on Bridge Street. Organized by our own Bette Ann Libby, multiple artists conceive and create these works to delight and inspire us. Each pole has information on the work and the artists. Enjoy!
