Listen for a Cause

For the past several months, Harwood student Christopher Cummiskey has organized “Concerts for a Cause,” music events. Each month, different musicians perform a free concert and concert-goers are encouraged to make donations for the featured charity that month.

The next concert is this week. Listen to the Harwood Jazz Combo on Wednesday, June 12 at 7 pm at the Warren Church. Donations will go to MRV Community Fund.

“Concerts for a Cause was born near the end of 2023,” Chris said. “I had heard of David Feurzeig, who played a piano concert in every town in Vermont, raising money for local charities instead of charging for admission. I personally have a passion for music so this seemed like a great opportunity to share something that brings me joy and gives back to my community.”

Thanks to Chris’ work, we’ve been able to hear the Granville Daze duo, the Harwood Jazz and Choir groups, and singer-songwriter Kylie Latham, while supporting local charities such as Hannah’s house, the Howard Center, and the Valley Rescue Squad.

All performances are held at Warren United Church (339 Main Street, Warren), who donates the space. Follow them on Instagram (concerts_for_a_cause).
