Bring on the MRV Triathlon!
Sunday, April 14.
After much anticipation, the Mad River Triathlon is back! And in true Mad River Valley style, it’s better than your average triathlon.
Not content to stick to the traditional three sporting events of swimming, cycling, and running that comprise most triathlons—participants in the Mad River Triathlon get a bonus event: skinning and skiing Mount Ellen! What could be better, or more Vermont?
The Mad River Triathlon begins with a five-mile run, followed by a canoe, kayak (or other flotation device of your choice) for six heart-racing miles through the swiftly flowing Mad River. From there, it’s on to a 10-mile cycle. Those still standing tackle one last hurrah: skinning up Mount Ellen and skiing to the finish. Whew! We’re worn out just imagining it.
For those intrepid enough to test their skill and endurance, learn all the details and sign up at https://madriverpath.org/madrivertriathlon. The registration deadline is April 12, 2024, at 11:59 p.m.
As if you weren’t already excited to participate, know there will be food, drink, and all kinds of merrymaking at Mount Ellen at the end of the event.
One more important note: every effort will be made to accommodate athletes of all physical abilities and income levels.
Several Valley non-profits and businesses make this event possible. A hearty “thank you” to Mad River Path, Sugarbush Resort, Mad River Riders, Mad Valley Sports, and Friends of the Mad River.
