Music for All

Since its start in 2010, Scrag Mountain Music has been on a mission to bring chamber music to communities throughout Vermont and make it accessible to all.

Their motto — “Music as grace for all of life’s stages” — sets the tone for this community-minded non-profit organization that, from its inception, has practiced a “come as you are, pay what you can” philosophy.

Founders and artistic directors Evan Premo and Mary Bonhag aim to use music as a vehicle for healing and connection. They call this “musical service to our community,” and it takes many forms:

  • accessible community concerts

  • artistic residencies

  • school performances

  • lullaby projects to create unique melodies for parents and newborns

  • music for mindfulness and meditation

  • music and hospice

Upcoming concert:
In an inspired Valley cross-collaboration, Scrag Mountain Music will perform a musical accompaniment to the current MAD Valley Arts exhibit: Rise, Trees: Our Botanical Giants. The musical event, titled: “Spiritual Sounding: Sacred Trees,” invites the community to explore, through music, the importance of trees in our spiritual lives.
