We’re Just Like You, Only Prettier

There are many beautiful towns across the state of Vermont. And while it’s true that those of us lucky enough to live in (or visit) the Mad River Valley are convinced we’ve landed in the prettiest place in the state, it’s not an opinion we’d necessarily voice out loud to our less fortunate friends living in Stowe, Shelburne, Quechee, or the Northeast Kingdom. Now, Travel + Leisure magazine has made official what we’ve known all along—naming our very own Mad River Valley the “most beautiful place” in Vermont.

Stop. We’re blushing.

Here’s what Travel + Leisure had to say about us: Vermont: Mad River Valley

“In the 1950s, the snowy ski resorts of Mad River Valley pulled the likes of the Kennedys and Hollywood VIPs. Its creviced mountains and charming small towns still make it a prime destination for all manner of outdoor and simple-pleasure pursuits, like hiking, maple- and cheese-tasting, shopping for crafts, and seeking local swimming holes, to name a few. Even just cruising Route 100 is a delight.”

Thank you, Travel + Leisure! We couldn’t have said it better ourselves.
