Want to find your inner Valley creativity?
The Mad River Valley is known for its four-season outdoor adventure. And it’s true, most of us ski, hike or bike to savor the natural beauty. But, do you know about all the creative pursuits to be found in the Valley?
Oddly, these classes are sometimes elusive. You can find them listed in the Valley Reporter or Front Porch Forum, or sign up for emails or Instagram accounts to find these hidden gems. Here’s a sampling of early 2024 creative classes:
My personal favorite is glass blowing offered at Salt and Sand Studios. Create your own piece in a few hours (with a lot of help from Spencer) and get exposed to the beauty of this art. Check out the website for details.Classes offered year-round.
The Waitsfield Blockhouse Studio lets you get dirty with their “feel the wheel” class.
The Warren store is offering some cooking classes, the one on 2/10 offered French macaron making. Sign up for their emails to learn about future classes or follow them on Instagram.
Clowning for adults is coming at the Valley Players.
Tucker Hill Inn is offering cooking classes that include a three-course tasting menu with wine pairings featuring homemade pasta and artisanal provisions from the Mad River Taste Place and Fifth Quarter Butchery.
You have to travel to Burlington, but check out Mad River Distillery for a drinking delight. On February 14th, they are offering a cocktail class. More to come? (Fingers crossed.)
And, one final note. Check out the local library websites (Warren and Waitsfield). They offer a wide-ranging selection of ongoing and pop-up classes in subjects as diverse as writing and dumpling making.
