The Most Demanding Golf Course in Waitsfield
Serendipity is the word to describe this blog post — I made a donation of golf balls (from my dad’s collection of things he doesn’t use anymore) and that turned into the discovery of a six-hole golf course in Waitsfield! This is not the manicured, famous course at Sugarbush in Warren, but rather a passion project, a backyard turned into a golf course. And, it’s literally the best (aka only) golf course in Waitsfield.
If you play golf, you owe it to yourself to attempt a round at the Woodchuck Golf Course. (I have it on good authority that the course is tricky and extra balls are a good idea.) And, even if you don’t play, the website is worth a read. Little snippets entertain you, such as “An experienced foursome can play the course in about one hour if they do not look for too many lost balls.” And the “about” section details the birth of the course; the intersection of folly, golf, time, and friends who own powerful earth-moving machines.
Tee times are listed on the website. To play, a donation to the food pantry is encouraged (cash or cans). Tell them Mad River Romance sent you.
