Let it Glide

Have you been wondering about the construction at the Skatium?

First, a bit of background. The outdoor rink, the Skatium, located in Waitsfield center, is the place to go for non-skiing winter fun. On any given cold day, kids are learning to skate holding onto stacks of milk crates while a pick up hockey game occupies the other side of the rink. Families, teens, and very accomplished older skaters are enjoying the ice together. 

Now for the construction update. The Skatium is an outdoor rink, so the weather has to cooperate in order for the ice to freeze solid. While plans have been discussed to add a roof to keep the snow off and refrigeration to help the ice freeze, the affordable work this fall focused on re-leveling the rink and repairing the boards. So, when you are done with the slopes, head over to the rink for some gliding fun.
